Travelling to Bideford

By Car:
Bideford is situated on the A39, approximately 10 miles west of Barnstaple. Travelling from other parts of the UK, take the M5, and exit at junction 27. Follow the A361 in a westerly direction for 36 miles (about 40 minutes). At Portmore Roundabout (Barnstaple), turn left, signposted for Bideford and Bude. Continue straight on over three roundabouts, joining the A39. After 10 miles (15 minutes), go straight on at the traffic lights, and the Torridge Bridge is crossed. At the next roundabout (Heywood Road), turn left, and follow the road for 1 mile, passing Morrison’s Supermarket. Follow the road around the right-hand bend, on to the Quay. Take the next right (Bridgeland Street), and follow around to the right. Bear left at the fork on to North Road. The Chapel is set back from the houses, 100 yards along on the right.

By Train:
The nearest railway station is Barnstaple (9 miles from Bideford) with hourly services running from Exeter St David’s. Journey time is 70 minutes. Exeter is served by regular trains from London and Birmingham (both approximately 2.5 hours away).

By Bus:
Bideford is served by Stagecoach South West, and regular buses run to/from Barnstaple (19, 21) and Exeter (5B). The Chapel is 10 minutes’ walk from bus stops on Bideford Quay. National Express Coaches arrive from London (502), the Midlands and the North (320, 324).

Parking near North Road Chapel:
Parking is free of charge throughout most of Bideford on Sundays. Restrictions apply at other times, please observe local notices.
North Road Chapel: There is space for approximately 6 vehicles in the Chapel yard
North Road: There are some roadside parking bays, and some single-yellow line sections. Restrictions apply Mon – Sat, 8am – 6pm
Kingsley Street: Permit holders only, Mon – Sat, 8am – 6pm
Chingswell Street (one way): There are some roadside parking bays, and some single-yellow line sections. Restrictions apply Mon – Sat, 8am – 6pm
The Strand: Permit holders only (left hand side), Pay & Display (right hand side) Mon – Sat, 8am – 6pm
Bridgeland Street: Roadside parking bays, Pay & Display Mon – Sat, 9am – 4pm, maximum stay 1 hour. Free at other times
The Quay: Roadside parking bays, Pay & Display Mon – Sat, 8am – 6pm, maximum stay 1 hour. Free at other times
The Pill and Riverside Car Parks: Pay & Display Mon – Sat, 8am – 6pm. Free at other times
